This is a proposal for an Open Official Picture Library in VaxholmThere is currently no obvious and easily accessible Image Library with Vaxholm images (historical and non-historical) and Vaxholm related story telling, either for the residents or for all the hundreds of thousands who visit Vaxholm from other countries every year. We think that is a pitty and something we ought to change. We also think the time is ripe, not the least because of the technological development that have now made it both easier and much cheaper than it was just 10 years ago to to build a place like that. An Open Official Picture Library might both vitalize the cultural life, support the development of local business and benefit the important tourism and other visitors. This attempt is also more than just a test of a usable interface for displaying hopefully interesting pictures and later on hopefully interesting local stories. It is also a test of a complete hopefully efficient image workflow intended to speed up the processes of taking care of an often fragile cultural heritage of old analogue images before the time fades them all away. In the test environment you will also find both Vaxholm and Stockholm archipelago related pictures but also pictures that are added as examples of where we stand now with AI image analyses and autogeneration of Description texts and Keywords. Especially the pictures of "Global Architecture" are examples of that kind. Other examples of the same sort is the Descriptions of all the "boat"-pictures. If you want to just see Vaxhom motifs just search for "vaxholm" or "archipelago". Don´t forget to test the keyword-filtering

Why this initiative? I just wanted to make some use of my experiences and knowledge from my time as an IT-Coordinator, "technical project leader" and "system developer" of The Digital City Museum of Stockholm between 2009 and 2016. I have worked professionally with metadata maintenance systems since 2009 and have also spent the last 2 years developing and refining an AI-driven Digital Asset Management System to efficiently handle the metadata management of my own around 70 000 pictures with Photools iMatch DAM. That knowledge might be of interest even for Vaxholm
